No-Oven Stovetop Bread

Emily Recipes - No-Oven Stovetop Bread - Don't Lose This Recipe Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter) 3/4 cup

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or any other cooking oil)

  • ¾ cup water (or as needed)

  • Butter or oil (for greasing the pan)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  • Add the olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.

  • Gradually add water little by little, stirring continuously, until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. You may need slightly more or less water depending on your flour. Start with ¾ cup and adjust as needed.

2. Knead the Dough:

  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 3-5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour, but be careful not to add too much, as this can make the bread dense.

3. Divide and Shape:

  • Divide the dough into 2-4 equal portions depending on how big or small you want your bread.

  • Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it with your hands or a rolling pin into a disc shape, about ½ inch thick.

4. Heat the Pan:

  • Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium-low heat. Lightly grease the pan with a small amount of butter or oil.

  • Once the pan is heated, place the dough discs into the pan. You can cook 1 or 2 at a time, depending on the size of your pan.

5. Cook the Bread:

  • Cook the dough for about 4-5 minutes on the first side, or until the bottom is golden brown.

  • Flip the bread over and cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes. The bread should puff up slightly and have a golden-brown color on both sides.

6. Check for Doneness:

  • After cooking both sides, check to make sure the bread is fully cooked by cutting into the center. It should be soft and cooked through. If it’s still raw inside, cover the pan with a lid and cook for another 2-3 minutes on low heat.

7. Serve:

  • Once the bread is cooked, remove it from the pan and allow it to cool slightly. You can brush it with a little melted butter for extra flavor.

  • Serve warm with butter, jam, cheese, or your favorite spread!

Tips:

  • Add-ins: You can add herbs like rosemary, garlic powder, or even cheese to the dough for extra flavor.

  • Storage: Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. You can also freeze it for longer storage.

  • Thickness: If you prefer a thicker bread, simply make the discs smaller or thicker. Adjust cooking time accordingly.

This No-Oven Stovetop Bread is a great option for when you're craving fresh bread but don’t want to turn on the oven. It’s quick, easy, and delicious! 🍞
