Ingredients:

For the Brownie Bread:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup hot water (for the batter)

For the Hot Fudge Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

  2. Prepare the brownie bread batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  3. Add the chocolate chips: Stir in the chocolate chips for extra richness and texture.

  4. Add hot water: Pour in the hot water and mix until the batter is smooth. It will be slightly runny, but that’s normal—it will bake up beautifully!

  5. Bake the brownie bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are fine). The top should be slightly cracked, and the bread should spring back when touched lightly.

  6. Prepare the hot fudge sauce: While the bread is baking, make the hot fudge sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, butter, sugar, and cocoa powder. Stir over medium heat until the butter is melted and the sauce is smooth. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently.

  7. Finish the hot fudge sauce: Remove the sauce from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Set it aside to cool slightly.

  8. Cool the bread: Once the brownie bread is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Serve: Slice the cooled brownie bread and serve with a generous drizzle of hot fudge sauce over the top. Optionally, you can add whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent touch!

Calories per Serving:

  • Calories per slice (assuming 12 slices per loaf): Approximately 350 calories per slice.

  • This number can vary based on exact ingredient measurements and portion size, but it provides a good estimate.

Tips:

  • For a fudgier texture: You can slightly underbake the bread, so the center remains gooey and dense, similar to a brownie.

  • Add nuts: You can stir in chopped walnuts or pecans into the batter for added crunch and flavor.

  • Storage: Store any leftover brownie bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat slices in the microwave for a warm treat!
