Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy

Calories: Approximately 450-500 calories per serving (based on 4 servings).

Tip: This dish is perfect for a cozy dinner and pairs well with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or rice. It's an excellent choice for family gatherings or a comforting weeknight meal.

Energy-saving tip: Use a cast-iron skillet or a thick-bottomed pan to distribute heat evenly while cooking. These materials retain heat better, allowing you to cook at a lower temperature and save energy. Alternatively, you can use an induction stove, which is more energy-efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves.

Who will benefit from this dish:

Those who need to boost their protein intake (thanks to the ground beef and eggs).

Anyone looking for a hearty, filling, and comforting meal.

Ideal for those following a balanced diet, as ground beef provides iron, zinc, and vitamin B12. However, since this dish is high in fat, it should be consumed in moderation by those monitoring their fat intake.

Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 egg

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp onion powder

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp oil

1 1/2 cups thinly sliced onions

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 cup beef broth

1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:
Make the patties: In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Use your hands to combine and form thick patties.

Cook the patties: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides, about 4 minutes per side. Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and keep warm.

Make the onion gravy: In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until soft and golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add the flour and stir for 1 minute, incorporating it with the onion drippings.

Add the beef broth: Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring to thicken the sauce. Season with salt to taste. Let the sauce simmer over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes.

Finish the dish: Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low for another 15 minutes to allow the meat to soak up the gravy. Once the gravy has thickened, serve the hamburger steaks with onion gravy alongside mashed potatoes or rice.

Enjoy your delicious meal!
