π₯§ Dolly Parton’s Butterscotch Pie: A Sweet Slice of Southern Comfort! β¨

Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 large egg yolks
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 2 cups whole milk
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:

Prepare the Pie Crust:
If you're using a pre-made pie crust, bake it according to package instructions and set it aside to cool. If you're making your own crust, prepare and bake it beforehand as well. -
Melt the Butter:
In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir occasionally to ensure it doesn't burn. -
Combine Sugar and Egg Yolks:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and egg yolks until smooth and well combined. -
Add Cornstarch:
Stir in the cornstarch to the sugar and egg mixture. This will help thicken the filling as it cooks. -
Heat Milk:
Slowly pour in the whole milk while whisking the mixture continuously to avoid lumps. Add the salt at this stage and continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth. -
Cook the Mixture:
Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture, stirring constantly. As the mixture heats, it will begin to thicken. Keep stirring until it thickens to a pudding-like consistency, which should take around 5 to 7 minutes. -
Add Vanilla Extract:
Once the filling has thickened, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. -
Fill the Pie Crust:
Pour the butterscotch filling into the prepared pie crust. Use a spatula to smooth the filling evenly. -
Chill the Pie:
Let the pie cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set. -
Serve:
Once the pie is chilled, slice and serve. Optionally, you can top with whipped cream or a sprinkle of brown sugar before serving.
