Burger Patties:

  • 500g (1.1 lbs) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Crack Burger Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Toppings & Buns:

  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 4 romaine or iceberg lettuce leaves
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg yolk.
  2. Gently mix without overworking the meat to keep it tender.
  3. Divide into 4 equal portions, shape into patties about 1.5 cm thick.

Step 2: Make Crack Burger Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  2. Stir well and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to blend flavors.

Step 3: Toast the Burger Buns

  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread a little butter on the inside of each bun and toast for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Step 4: Cook the Burger Patties

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over high heat.
  2. Place patties on the hot surface and sear for 3-4 minutes per side without pressing them down.
  3. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover to melt.

Step 5: Assemble the Burgers
