BUTTER BISCUITS - Don't Lose This

Tip: These buttery biscuits have approximately 150-180 calories per biscuit (depending on size). They are perfect as a side dish for breakfast or brunch, or as a snack. Pair them with jam, honey, or your favorite savory dishes like soups and stews. Keep in mind to enjoy them in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour (packed)
(If using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt)

1 Tbsp baking powder (leave out if using self-rising flour)

½ tsp salt (leave out if using self-rising flour)

½ cup salted butter, cut into small pieces
(If using unsalted butter, add an additional ¼ tsp salt)

1 cup milk (regular or buttermilk)

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the butter in small pieces.

Using your hands (or a pastry blender), work the butter into the flour mixture until the butter is pea-sized and the mixture is crumbly.

Pour in the milk and stir with a wooden spoon until the dough is well combined, being careful not to overmix.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it out to about ¾ inch thick.

Use a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Place each biscuit onto an ungreased cookie sheet or iron skillet. Make sure the biscuits are touching for a higher rise while baking.

Bake for 10 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.

Notes:
Saving Energy: To save energy, use a convection oven, which will cook the biscuits faster and more evenly, reducing overall cooking time and energy consumption. Additionally, consider using a toaster oven for smaller batches, which is more energy-efficient than a regular oven.

Health Benefits: These biscuits are a tasty treat and are best enjoyed as part of a balanced diet. They provide carbohydrates and fats for energy but can be high in calories, so they are more suitable for individuals who need a quick energy boost or are engaging in activities that require extra calories. For those on weight-loss or low-calorie diets, enjoy them in moderation.
